After 3 days of raw aviation megafun with Buffalo Airways at Yellowknife, NWT. I am “back to the future” and flew out on Air Canada CRJ900 to Calgary. The CRJ even has a Business Class product. An impressive hot meal was served on the 2 hour flight. I stayed overnight in Calgary and flew on Air Canada B787-9 Dreamliner to Montreal the next day. The Air Canada lounge in Calgary has decent food selection. I met with two other Canadian travelers there, and they told me the airfare within Canada is sometimes higher than flights to Europe. My flight out of Calgary was delayed by an hour due to a late inbound flight. Once onboard Air Canada B787, the crew showed me the cockpit and the pilot crew rest area on the B787. A course-by-course full lunch was served onboard with a printed menu and paired wines. The Air Canada B787-9 also features Premium Economy Class. At the end of the 3.5 hour flight, I highlighted two observed issues with aviation in Canada. 1. The airfares are high. I was redeeming miles to fly for better value. 2. If you didn't get a refund but got a voucher instead, given the current high airfare and inflation, the voucher value is unlikely to hold.

Air Canada Trip Report flying from Vienna to San Francisco (via Toronto) onboard one Air Canada Boeing 787-9 and a Boeing 737-8 MAX on a nice winter day. An average flight onboard the Air Canada Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Boeing 737MAX. Probably the fact that there were lots of clouds didn't help to get a good mood... but also the B787 cabin didn't help either. The legroom was on the edge for a long-haul cabin and the windows were dirty. On top of that, the crew dimmed all the windows without asking or saying anything just after the meal service. In my opinion, that's probably the most disrespectful thing the cabin crew can do on a Boeing 787. The only reason why they do it is to make the passengers fall asleep (taking no care if they should sleep or not due to the time change) and that way avoid anyone from disturbing them for hours. I knew I shouldn't have taken a flight in 787 exactly because of this. They didn't block the windows but they were dimming them all the time, even though many passengers didn't want their windows to be dimmed. The onboard service started around 1h after takeoff. There were 2 options: chicken or pasta. Both were extremely simple. A chickpea salad was the starter and a piece of dry cake made the function of dessert. Sadly, I must say this was among the worst food to date on a transatlantic flight. The crew didn't pass during the next 6h through the cabin with drinks. 1h before landing, that means, 7h after the first tiny meal, they offered a small warm snack. The positive thing about the first flight was that, surprisingly, we landed well ahead of schedule. I was monitoring the flight punctuality for the last 2 weeks (because of the connecting flight to SFO) and rare was the day when the delay was lower than 1-2 hours. Today, luckily, it was an exception to that. We landed around 20 minutes early after a windy approach. We had a 3h layover at Toronto airport, before boarding the Air Canada Boeing 737MAX that would take us to San Francisco. The aircraft landed ahead of schedule from its previous destination (Nassau), but we still boarded late and took off with almost 30 minutes delay. The onboard service on this 5h flight was completely "pay-per-eat". The menu looked quite nice, with several food options that could be part of a long-haul menu. I bought a 3-Cheese Pizza and a Salad. Soft drinks were complimentary. All were very tasty, especially the salad. I must say as well, that the crew on this second flight was much better than the one on the first one: very polite, engaging with the passengers, walking through the aisle for anything the passengers would need... exactly the opposite from the ones on the Boeing 787. Due to turbulence during the last 2h of the flight, there was no second service as planned. We landed in San Francisco 10 minutes ahead of schedule after a beautiful approach over the city and the Bay of San Francisco. Now it's your turn! Have you ever flown with Air Canada? Which route? Air Canada pilots staged a silent picket at Toronto’s Pearson Airport on Friday to call for better wages and working conditions. The Air Line Pilots Association, representing more than 5,000 Air Canada aviators, started negotiations for the bargaining unit in June, a day after fellow union members at WestJet ratified a new collective agreement. The informational picket at Terminal 1 comes the same day the nine-year deal expires but both the union and airline have said it will not affect Air Canada’s flight schedule. The pilots association said no strike is imminent. Air Canada has apologized over a what has been dubbed a “vomitgate” incident on an Air Canada flight from Las Vegas to Montreal. Two passengers were allegedly escorted off a plane after refusing to sit in a chair covered in vomit. One witness has sounded the alarm and says the incident makes her ashamed to be Canadian. Today i'm flying Air Canada in a surprise review onboard their Boeing 787 Dreamliner. After my last awful experience, it's time to find out how they perform with their reintroduced Signature Business Class product. I'll be departing from their flagship Toronto YYZ airport and, as i'm now allowed to enter Canada i'll be reviewing their ground experience, lounges all whilst maintaining a low profile. The aim today is to not have the same issues as last time (see previous review) or indeed the curated PR flight I was presented with back in June. My trip report today will encompass all elements of the onboard experience, food service, bedding, a seat tour and in this instance how 'friendly' the crew are. As usual i'm totally honest and open about my travel, so you'll see this though the lense of an ordinary passenger rather than certain YouTuber's who give an unrealistic advertorial walk through of their flights.. In addition to their regular flights, Air Canada operates one Airbus A319 and a few A320s for charters, which have only Business Class seats on board! These are the planes that fly NHL teams around North America, and they’re usually pretty busy during hockey season. However, sometimes they do need to reposition planes around the country for specific teams’ needs, and sometimes, that means putting them on a revenue flight for a few lucky passengers! What happened on my Air Canada Business Class Flight? I flew on AC's new new 787-9 Dreamliner on red eye flight from Mexico City. I'd be excited to try this airline, as i've never had a chance to before, but unfortunately quite a few things went wrong. Here is my account of what happened. I was silenced by the crew, told I was not allowed to film, provided a sub par premium experience and made to feel very unwelcome. This is not what I expected from North America's best Airline... I want to give a special mention to the ground crew which came to check on me in the terminal, to apologise for the experience I had and to offer me food, snacks and Air Canada merch. An excellent example of how to rectify a poor experience, I just hope that mentioned service improvements will happen on this red eye flight. Thankfully I still managed to offer a comprehensive review of this flight, but had I not pushed back or made my concerns public on my IG then I feel this may not have been the case. Next flight up, I'll be flying onboard their 777-300ER in Business Class, and without giving too much away, it was a completely different experience. Let's hope what happened today is a one off. My other concerns today were with the soft product provided, no bedding for a night flight, breakfast served at midnight and overall attitude towards taking photos (not in line with other reviewers). I hope also to try their Signature Business Class, their YYZ suites (lounge) - but managed to get a tiny sample on my next flight of what their concierge service is like. Welcome everyone to this Air Canada video, thank you for joining! Air Canada is one of my favorite airlines to fly transatlantic as it’s one of the carriers with the largest beverage choice and best IFE. And those are some of the things I like the most on airplanes, wink wink 😜 Initially I was supposed to fly in Premium Economy but as I noticed a whole empty row of seats in the Economy Class I decided to swap there. Full flat! This particular aircraft operates in a high density 3 class configuration and is one of the B777’s with most number of seats, so I’m glad to have experienced this flight. I wonder why Air Canada isn’t more spoken of when it comes to top airlines but that’s what I’m here for! After my last flight on their 787-9 in Business Class over from Mexico City, there's certainly a lot of room for improvement. I have a 14 hour layover first to contend with at Toronto international airport. My second Air Canada flight will be on their 777-300ER in Business Class. I'm told there should be a number of improvements with their soft product for this routing including some bedding this time! I'll also get to meet the captain and this time I will have no issues filming as Air Canada are aware of this flight. This does make reviewing this impartially a bit difficult as you'll see, service is certainly adapted to account for my presence. However I will say I experienced some of the best cabin crew onboard, a huge contrast to my previous flight.
