Hello everyone! In this video, I fulfilled a long-awaited wish and installed a module for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the Land Rover Discovery 4 / LR4. The module also supports screen mirroring and is connected to the rest of the system via Plug & Play. The installation of the module takes about 3 hours without much prior knowledge. I needed a little longer because of the filming. What all has to be removed so that I can use Apple CarPlay / Android Auto in the Discovery 4 / LR4? First of all, the part of the centre console with the gearshift gate has to be removed. Then the control panel for the volume control and the heating and ventilation control are removed. Then the upper and lower head units must be removed. The connection of the module is quite simple, as it is only plugged in with the enclosed cables. Make sure that the LVDS cable of the new Apple CarPlay module is connected to the upper head unit with the screen. In this video we show you the retrofit of an Apple CarPlay and Android Auto system into a Range Rover Sport L494 (2013 onwards) Make sure you enter our 10k Subscriber Giveaway: 🤍 This customer brought their Range Rover Sport to us to significantly increase the functionality by bringing it right up to date with the latest technology. Since the launch of the L494 Range Rover Sport in 2013, smartphone integration has become the key infotainment spec, and a lot of this cars still dont have that functionality. Using a specific integration kit, we are able to retrofit Apple CarPlay and Android Auto into the factory screen in Range Rover Sport's. This involves removing the dashboard to take out the factory headunit, and opening it up to re-position and add in different PCB boards, to allow the smartphone integration module to communicate with the vehicle headunit. This allows the system to be fully controlled using the factory touchscreen, along with steering controls. The audio utilises an aux port in the vehicle to play sound through the existing sound system to maximum available quality. We also add in a switch and a USB port to the glovebox of the Range Rover, to allow the smartphone integration to be turned on and off, alternating between the factory system. The USB allows you to plug directly into the system to mirror your phone, and make use of apps such as Waze, Google Maps, Spotify and more using the smartphone integration. We are able to offer smartphone integration, wired and wireless, for a vast range of vehicles. Thanks for watching our video. Enjoy this Tutorial on the setup and use of the Apple Carplay System in the 2020 and newer Land Rover Defender. This is the first Land Rover / Jaguar Model with the all new Pivi Pro Infotainment and provides a decent improvement over the older systems! Apple Carplay Apple CarPlay after iOS 13 has added a summary screen on the left side of the home screen. The home icon has changed. Different features are available on the Apple CarPlay screen and the iPhone screen. When you set a route in Apple CarPlay navigation, the navigation icon on the Land Rover home screen will change to the Apple CarPlay navigation icon. Android auto On Land Rover vehicles that update to the latest version of the InControl system and support the Touch Pro Duo, the Android Auto screen appears full screen. However, models such as Discovery and Discovery Sport that support Touch Pro still appear split screens, not full screens.

We've had minor issues with iOS13.3 CarPlay conflicting with certain Bluetooth from car makers - where the original bluetooth gets denied when phone call within CarPlay is being used. It's been fixed by allowing bluetooth to only take over the phone call, rather than music part - meaning original bluetooth will only provide phone call support to CarPlay and the iphone connected - whilst A2DP will go obsolete (while carplay running) and AUX / external audio source will be used to play sound from CarPlay. This method of disabling original bluetooth's A2DP has been tested this time and confirmed it will not cause any conflict issue with phone call / music.
